Guests Received Invitations!!

I don’t have much to talk about today since I was at work all freaking day. It was payroll Monday, so there was a lot of issues with the Holiday and move up, so we ended up working until 10:20p. I called Daisy at Infinity Salon, however she was already gone for the day, so I will be calling tomorrow around 12:15p so I can talk to her about pricing for the ladies! And then hopefully turn in the contract by Wednesday. I also received the quote from Bedrock Rentals in Athens about pricing for the dance floor and chairs (that only my dad wants to order)—but with 100 chairs for outside for the ceremony, 1 indoor dance floor, and the delivery, the estimate was $635.00, which seems ridiculous. I responded back and asked if I would just order the dance floor, and pick it up and install it ourselves, if it would just be $180.00 for the dance floor, and they responded that yes, it would just be that. So that is what we may end up doing. I also talked to Mateja, our florist, about the mockup, and she said that July 18th would work out nicely with her as well. So that was set, so even though I worked all day, I got a little side business done on a few breaks. Hopefully tomorrow will be more productive.

OH! But huge success, Erin texted me today and said that she got the invitation, which she thought was beautiful, so I am hoping that more than just Erin got the invitations, I was kind of shocked that I didn’t hear from more people saying they received the invitation, but that is okay, maybe I will hear more tomorrow. Well goodnight!

Jason's Wedding Band

Today I woke up and of course looked at Pinterest/Etsy for ideas for the wedding since we saw the reception hall decorated yesterday. I saw a $4 piece of art that said “Oh Snap! If you Instagram, then tag your photos at #YourWedding” So that got me in the mood to create some pieces myself, without spending $4 + $3.75 shipping on each sheet. So I had a few fonts downloaded from the wedding invitation address labels, and I just decided to use those. I looked on Michael’s and JoAnn’s for frame that I could use, and I was like Michael’s is closer, I’ll just get the frames there. I went, found some frames, and cardstock, and decided to make my own for around $20! Can’t beat that with frames! The only issue with that, is that when I showed Jason the frames, he said he didn’t like the Sparkler Send Off at 9:30p, but I still think we are going to do something like that. His excuse is that the girls are going to have hairspray in their hair and that may catch fire. LOL. He’s silly sometimes.

After that I brought some food home for Jason, we ate lunch, and then decided to go to Tuttle Mall to pick up his wedding band! I was so incredibly excited to get his band now that it was resized and ready to go! When we got to Kay Jewelers, we of course had to wait 15-20 minutes, but when they finally gave us the ring, Jason put it on his right hand—and obviously it goes on the left—and it almost got stuck. The lady was like, “Wrong hand buddy!” Haha, I laughed! But it fit well and it looked so good on him! I was so proud that he was going to be wearing that FOREVER!

Yesterday, we had talked about the rehearsal dinner, and that made me think that I didn’t have a nice dress for the rehearsal dinner, plus I had a $15.00 giftcard to Macy’s—so why not see what they have to offer. We only looked around Macy’s for about 15 minutes when I found a three-quarter (arm) length dress that went down to my knees, and it was originally $79.00 marked down to $47.00. I initially thought I only had a $10.00 giftcard (it was a promotional giftcard because I bought Jason Burberry cologne a few weekends before, and didn’t realize it was actually $15.00). Anyways, I thought $37.00 for this dress isn’t bad, so I tried it on and it looked fantastic on me! I was so excited, and I showed it to Jason and he responded with, “It looks nice.” So I decided to buy it. I paid $14.00 for the dress, which makes it so much better!! J

We went to Menards and looked for materials for the LED Infinity mirror and then went to the store for the week. By the time we got home it was almost 6:30p, and we started making dinner. We made Indian food, which was delicious but we didn’t eat until almost 9:15p, but it was well worth the wait. We ate, took Khloe for a walk, and then I got ready for bed. Good night.

Food Tasting, Hair Consultation!!

Today we went to Lake Hope Lodge for the food tasting. It didn’t start off too good because my mom and dad were late getting to Columbus, and then we were suppose to pick up Bri at 11:30a, and then be at Lake Hope around 12p. That didn’t work. A highway was closed which caused my parents to be about a half hour late to Columbus, so Bri offered to not come to the food tasting, which I felt terrible pretty much uninviting her, but she seemed okay with it.

So anyways, once my parents got to Columbus, we packed one of the centerpieces and linens in the car (that we actually just received on Friday), and headed off towards McArthur, Ohio. We talked about wedding stuff most of the time, but then my mom and dad are watching TWD currently, so wedding talk with definitely interrupting with some TWD discussions.

I was really nervous as we were approaching the Lodge because it had been over 4 months since we were last there. But as soon as we got there (it was my parents first time ever going to Lake Hope), we walked down to the reception hall, and noticed there were chairs sitting out at the ceremony site. I thought, “This is a disaster” because I wanted to see how the tablecloths would look on the tables, with the centerpieces, but it actually worked out better with having the wedding going on, because we were able to get ideas and such from the wedding that was set up for that night.

Anyways, we went into the Lodge and talked to Grace for a bit and then she prepared a table for us four to do the food tasting. It was a smaller table, so I wasn’t sure if they were going to bring us each a plate of the different types of food. But then the chef came out and talked to us, and told us that he was going to bring us out the food, family-style. He first brought us out au gratin potatoes, which were good, but they were greasy, which is understandable because there is so much cheese in it. Next, he brought out pulled pork and brisket. The pulled pork was dry, but the brisket was too fatty. They both tasted good, but I liked the pork better, and I think guests would enjoy the pork better as well. Next, he brought us out maple-glazed turkey, which was fantastic! I do like turkey, but it’s usually dry, but this was so moist, I was so shocked, so after trying that I definitely wanted to keep that on the menu! Then we were given mashed potatoes, and then green beans and the mixed veggies. The mixed veggies had a lot of cabbage in them, and I think that would steer people away from eating it, which contained zucchini and squash, which I really like, but I think less people would have enjoyed that. So then Grace came over to the table, and asked if we decided, and we did:
  • Pulled Pork with BBQ Sauce
  • Maple Glazed Turkey
  • Au Gratin Potatoes
  • Green BeansSalad
  • Rolls

Next we had to discuss the bar tab for the night of the wedding. At first we were going to give each person 2 tokens, and they could have 2 drinks. I thought it would be a bit difficult to keep track of, especially since some people don’t drink, they would just give their tokens away to other people, so we talked it over with Grace and she said that she would suggest an open bar, for maybe an hour, and then have a cash bar afterwards. We talked among ourselves for a bit and realized that that probably was the best way to handle the bar situation. We later thought about who the bridesmaids and groomsmen wouldn’t be able to drink as much because they would be preoccupied with photographs, but then they can also have drinks while taking pictures.

We went back down to the reception hall and took some more pictures of the reception hall set up, talked with the family a little bit more (especially since we may rent their tulle backdrop in front of the whiteboard for our wedding), and then had to head out because I still had my hair consultation in Athens.

As soon as we got to Athens, we picked up Bri from her apartment and drove immediately to Infinity Salon in the mall on East State Street. I was in shock how nice the salon was, and I was disappointed that I’ve never gone there before.  We waited for Daisy for about 10 minutes, and we just talked with Bri about what happened at Lake Hope. When Daisy brought us back she started asking me about what I wanted done with my hair. I told her that I didn’t have my veil (fail!) but I showed her pictures and then pictures of what I kind of wanted my hair to look like. I think it was kind of confusing to her, but I think she somewhat got a picture of what I wanted. J We talked how I wanted loose curls, but pulled to the side, and she described my wedding dress style as 40s, which I agree about! We then talked about the other bridesmaids, and what they would want done with their hair. I said I needed to talk to them about what they were willing to spend on their hair, and that I would text them later in the day. We talked about makeup, and all of this is really making me excited for the big day! We scheduled a trial for the hair and makeup for July 17th, but I said that I would have to take off a half day so I could make it in time for the mock up/trial. That would work out well because I am hoping to do the floral mockup July 18th, so I told Bri I would take a half day on Friday, spend the night at her apartment, and then we could go to the florists on that Saturday.

After the consultation, we went back to Bri’s apartment where she showed us projects she had been working on—including the signage and plastic bubble thingies we were going to have at the photo backdrop that guests can pose in front of. I think it will be nice! But we played with Mr. Hobbes, who just had hip surgery and is doing remarkably well. He was playing with the centerpieces, and almost got a hold of one of the linens/tablecloths, which I would have been upset considering I bought the last 12 online. So we would have had one tablecloth with a scratch through it, but I couldn’t have been that upset because he’s just a kitty!!

It was getting late and we decided to head back to Columbus, because then we were going to get dinner after we got back to our house. I texted the bridesmaids about their hair, and told them I would call Daisy on Monday to verify prices. Malory, Erin, and Bri want to get their hair done in an updo, while both Christina’s want to have their hair curled. So we said we would pay half if they were willing to pay the other half, and I was so happy that they all agreed—not that it would have mattered either way, but I want to have all of us getting our hair did for the big day! J My mom is also going to get her hair done as well.

Anyways, we went out to dinner and then my parents headed back to Cincinnati while I took a nap for the evening.

Wedding Invitations!!

Yesterday, I had a pretty difficult day at work, but thankfully, Jason decided not to go to Athens and waited for me to get home from work before telling me that we received our wedding invitations in the mail! I also received my Fitbit Charge HR in the mail, so I wasn't too upset from my bad day at work. :)

We ordered the invites about a week ago, and knowing that you are suppose to send them out about 6 weeks before, I was eager to send them out about 2 months beforehand, especially since we indicated on the RSVPs that we wanted them back before July 6, 2015.

Anyways, today was Tuesday and not a very busy day at work today, so I was able to leave by 4:30p, meaning I had just enough time to go to the Post Office before it closed today. Oh, and by the way, I had to show everyone at work our invitations. Sometimes I feel bad showing people I work with stuff for our wedding because no one is invited, but I just met these people like 2 months ago. But I still feel weird sometimes. :-P Hehe. And I found our that one of my co-workers, Kammy, was also married on August 7, and is actually celebrating her 5 year anniversary this year. Very cool.

I went to the Post Office, and I had to wait in line for like 25 minutes, while is so unusual in comparison to Athens Post Office. I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes, but that's beside the point. I was excited standing in line the whole time, because I knew when I got up to the front of the line, I was going to give the worker my WEDDING INVITATION and have it weighed, which may seem like something insignificant, but seriously, this is the ONLY time I am going to do this. But when it was my turn, I walked up to the front and handed her the envelope and she did a "manual" weigh with the invitation and said, this isn't too bad, but then she weighed it on the scale, and said it was only 0.8 oz., so it was only going to need 1 stamp. I went ahead and bought 120 stamps, for $58, which is crazy that stamps are THAT expensive now. Anyways, I went home and took Khloe out for a bit, we ran for about a mile, but my stomach hurt so bad, that I had to stop. I think it's because I haven't been drinking as much water as I usually do. (One more thing on my to-do list!)

After an hour or so, I decided to print out the return labels. The name is small, but it's on the return label, so I think that's okay. I talked to Erma, our minister, about meeting in the next few weekends to go over what she's going to say at the wedding, etc. But then I called Erin, and my mom and dad were over Erin and Jon's house, so we all talked for a bit. While we were talking, I was browsing over the names and addresses, looking for any mistakes. I only found one. :) But I printed out the address labels and set up a little work station to stamp the RSVPs, put the return and address labels on the envelope, seal the envelope, put the stamp on the envelope and seal with a W embellishment symbol sticker thingy. :) However, after the first address label, I noticed that the ink on the label had not dried and the ink smeared on the envelope and label, so I made a decision to go ahead and wait until tomorrow. I also called my mom again because I was afraid people wouldn't fill out their name on the RSVPs, so, all these little things that I wasn't thinking about are happening.. Again, making it pretty stressful.

Although, today, I did schedule a food tasting for the Lodge, and we are going this Saturday! Which I'm pretty excited about because my mom and dad will drive down to Columbus, pick up Jason and I and head to Lake Hope. Then, after the food tasting, Bri, my mom, and I are going to Infinity Salon for a hair and makeup consultation. So things are coming together, but it's still pretty stressful. I do however wish that Jason was home with me so I could cuddle with him and he could help me with the invitiations and such, so it was more like the movies getting ready for our wedding. But I should have the inivitaitons out by THursday morning since I'm waiting overnight for the labels to dry before putting them on the envelopes. Hopefully this all works out.

I STILL CAN'T GET OVER THAT I'M MARRYING MY BEST FRIEND IN 66 DAYS!!!! HOLY GEEZZZ!!
Nighty night.
